About the WesTrac Apprenticeship Program
Launch your career with WesTrac and earn while you learn. Complete a 4- or 5-year apprenticeship (dual trade), gaining a nationally recognised trade qualification while working on Caterpillar equipment and the latest technology.
You’ll build strong hands-on skills while training in modern facilities and workshops with expert support. Based in Wollongong, this program sets you up for long-term career growth—from technical roles to leadership and beyond.
As a WesTrac Apprentice, you will learn how to:
- Assist with inspecting and diagnosing electrical systems on Caterpillar equipment
- Support repairs and replacement of electrical components under supervision
- Learn and apply basic electrical circuits and wiring principles
- Assist with installing electrical systems on new machines
- Read and follow schematics and technical drawings with guidance
- Safely use workshop tools and equipment, including forklifts and cranes (with training)
- Maintain a clean, safe and compliant work environment
- Follow Caterpillar procedures and quality standards throughout all tasks
About you:
- Must be 16 years or older by December 2026
- Australian working rights (Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- Strong communication, reading and writing skills
- Genuine interest in mechanical trades, machinery or hands-on learning
- Driver’s licence and reliable transport (or close to obtaining one) with ability to travel to work and training
- Honest, reliable and dependable
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
