Field Service Mechanic – Wollongong

Are you a qualified Plant Mechanic looking for a role that offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to work with industry-leading equipment?

WesTrac is seeking a skilled Field Service Plant Mechanic to join our Wollongong team, supporting a diverse customer base across the region. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you’ll travel between sites to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and perform preventative maintenance on Caterpillar machinery. Your strong mechanical aptitude, ability to think on your feet, and commitment to safety will be key to your success.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in the field, solving complex mechanical issues, and being part of a supportive and high-performing team.

Rosters and Remuneration

• Monday – Friday, 8.5 hour shifts
• Hourly rates from $48+
• Overtime rates from $73+

*Rates above are a guide only and each candidate will be assessed based on competencies and previous experience.

Skills & Experience

• Australian recognised mechanical trade qualification with heavy industry experience essential
• Experience rebuilding mobile mining equipment and / or components is highly regarded 
• Solutions focused mindset and ability to adapt to changing requirements 
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• Unrestricted Drivers Licence
• Close attention to detail and ability to perform tasks to meet Caterpillar quality standards
• Team oriented with proven ability to meet set deadlines
