Field Service Mechanic – Wollongong

Do you have what it takes to be a Field Service Plant Mechanic with WesTrac?

Our Field Service team in Wollongong cater to an extensive customer base throughout the region, providing service and breakdown solutions. Reporting to our Workshop Supervisor, this role will see you travelling between jobs to provide CAT expertise and ensure minimal downtime of machines.

With extensive mechanical aptitude and a safety-first approach to everything you do, this role is best suited to those that love to problem solve and spend their days diagnosing faults.


Rosters and Remuneration

Option 1: Monday – Friday, 10.5 hour shifts

  • Day shift: 0600-1630
  • Annual earnings from $127,000 - $160,000*

Option 2: Sliding Roster, 12.5 hour shifts

  • Week 1: Monday – Thursday, day shift only.
  • Week 2: Tuesday – Friday, day shift only.
  • Annual earnings from $122,000 - $156,000*

Please note: the rates above are a guide only and each candidate will be assessed based on competencies and previous experience.
Skills & Experience

  • Australian recognised mechanical trade qualification with heavy industry experience essential
  • Experience rebuilding mobile mining equipment and / or components is highly regarded 
  • Solutions focused mindset and ability to adapt to changing requirements 
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Unrestricted Drivers Licence
  • Close attention to detail and ability to perform tasks to meet Caterpillar quality standards
  • Team oriented with proven ability to meet set deadlines
