Plant Mechanic

Reporting to the Project Support Supervisor, the Heavy Diesel Fitter will have strong communication skills, with exceptional customer support at the forefront of their interactions. The role will also involve providing lead technical support on maintenance and warranty repairs. You will be working both autonomously and within a team.
Your success in delivering the above tasks plus a solid understanding of warranty provisions is crucial to the role. You will also assist customers with component warranty and replacement requirements.
This position is FIFO from Perth only, however support with relocation to Perth as per policy can also be provided to the right applicant.
Location:
Solomon Hub – Open pit iron ore mine site in the Pilbara region.
Roster:
7 days, 7 nights, 7 off, 12.5 hrs each day (inc. of 30 minutes meal break) – FIFO from
Perth
What You’ll Do:
• Pro-actively assist with customer maintenance work teams for assigned major & minor work
scopes
• Be responsible for completing assigned work scope in alignment with the Customers and
Westrac policies and procedures.
• Emphasis on providing hands on technical assistance and a high level of productivity to
support and assist the customer's maintenance work teams.
• Is the link between the Customer, Westrac and Caterpillar for all hands-on Caterpillar
equipment preventive maintenance practices and technical repairs.
• Equipment trouble shooting and technical reporting via Caterpillar process and procedures.
• Utilise Caterpillar product technical maintenance information and documentation SIS2.
Skills & Experience:
• Australian recognised Heavy Mobile Plant Technology qualification coupled with post trade
experience.
• Valid Australian recognised HR Drivers Licence.
• High level understanding of Caterpillar Warranty Provisions is essential.
• Strong computer literacy with verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience and strong understanding on 793F trucks, 994H & K loaders, D11T dozers and C175
and 3500 series engines including component change outs.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Confident to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
