About the role

WesTrac are seeking multiple Trades Assistant’s to join our Trackshop and Undercarriage teams at WesTrac Tomago!  

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, working alongside fitters and boilermakers, the Trades Assistant role will see you building new components, reclaiming and repairing worn undercarriage components for CAT mining and construction machines for many of our customers across NSW.

You will have the opportunity to learn and grow within a supportive environment, with the possibility of additional training and upskilling to expand your capabilities. These positions provide an excellent foundation for those seeking a career in the Heavy Industry, offering valuable hands-on experience and a clear pathway for advancement within the company.

 

Roster & Remuneration 

  • Monday – Friday role, 48 hour week
  • 2 weeks of days, 2 weeks of nights on rotation
  • Hourly rates from $36.59+
  • Overtime rates from $54.89+

 

Skills & Experience

As the successful candidate you will possess the following skills:

  • Interest in the heavy vehicle and mining industry
  • Be mechanically minded
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Nationally accredited Forklift and Dogman tickets
  • Welding experience will be highly regarded
  • Must be physically fit, as some heavy lifting is required
