TRADES ASSISTANT | MACHINE SHOP
WesTrac is currently seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Trades Assistant to join our Machine Shop in Tomago.
Our Machine Shop is home to a diverse and skilled group of Fitter Machinists, Boilermakers, NDT Technicians, Trades Assistants, and Support Staff, delivering high-quality machining and reclamation services to some of our largest mining customers across NSW.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisors, this hands-on role will see you supporting our tradespeople by:
- Cleaning and inspecting CAT components
- Performing cylinder honing
- Assisting with general workshop duties, including yard work and equipment handling
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the heavy industry, with the potential for training and upskilling to expand your capabilities. You’ll be part of a supportive team environment that encourages growth and offers a clear pathway for career development within WesTrac.
Roster & Remuneration
- Monday – Friday role, 48 hour week
- 2 weeks of days, 2 weeks of nights on rotation
- Hourly rates from $37+
- Overtime rates from $56+
Skills & Experience
As the successful candidate you will possess the following skills:
- Interest in the heavy vehicle industry
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Nationally accredited Forklift, Dogman, and Working at Height tickets
