About the role

WesTrac are seeking a Trades Assistant to join our Machine Shop in Tomago! With Fitter Machinists, Boilermakers, NDT Technicians, Trades Assistants and Support Staff, our Machine Shop offer machining and reclamation services to some of our biggest mining customers across NSW.

 

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisors, a Trades Assistant role will see you providing support to our trades by cleaning and inspecting CAT components, cylinder honing, and other miscellaneous tasks within the workshop. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow within a supportive environment, with the possibility of additional training and upskilling to expand your capabilities. These positions provide an excellent foundation for those seeking a career in the Heavy Industry, offering valuable hands-on experience and a clear pathway for advancement within the company.

 

Roster & Remuneration 

  • Monday – Friday role, 48 hour week
  • 2 weeks of days, 2 weeks of nights on rotation
  • Hourly rates from $37.53+
  • Overtime rates from $56.30+

 

Skills & Experience

As the successful candidate you will possess the following skills:

  • Interest in the heavy vehicle industry
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Nationally accredited Forklift, Dogman, and Working at Height tickets
