The Opportunity

  • Roster: 48hr week 5:30AM - 4:00PM (no weekends) -Night shift rotation required after 4-6 months
  • Earning potential up to $140,000k or $55ph *Guide only based of a 48 hour rotating roster
  • Lead an on-shift team of 7, including Machinists, Fitters, Boilermakers and Trades Assistants
  • Increase your earnings with optional overtime available

 

Due to workshop expansion, WesTrac is seeking a Leading Hand to implement work order blueprints within the Track Shop department of The Machine workshop. In this role you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the workshop and provide guidance and leadership to your on-shift team of 7+ Machinists, Fitters, Boilermakers and Trades Assistants.

 

Our Track Shop department sits within the Machine Engineering wider workshop. The Track shop's primary scopes of work include dismantling and resealing tracks, track shoe relugging, restoring chain components and complete overhaul on idlers.

 

Skill and Qualifications

  • Cert 3 Trade Qualification in: Mechanical Engineering, Fitter & Machining or Mechanical Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaker)
  • Experience overseeing a team of 5+
  • Proficient with modern safety procedure: Take 5’s/ JSA’S/ SWIMS
  • Forklift & Dogman ticket desirable
  • Sound working knowledge of Caterpillar equipment
  • Experience restoring track and undercarriage components highly regarded
