About the role

 

In support of our continued growth & development we are seeking expressions of interest from Mobile Plant tradespeople who are looking to become a full time Technical Trainer and Assessor. Our team is primarily responsible for the delivery and review of educational and technical training aligned to Westrac’s apprentice and trade upgrade program. We understand you may not have any classroom experience and will support that through a strict supervision program to enable you to succeed.

 

At Westrac Institute we are striving to be the leading training centre of excellence for mobile equipment. Just 30 minutes from Newcastle, our Institute in Tomago is a Registered Training Organisation which provides nationally accredited training through the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Primary responsibility for the Trade Upgrade & Apprentice Programs
  • Teach, plan, develop and assess selected units in Mobile Plant
  • Continuous improvement of course curriculum
  • Delivering to AQF requirements and workplace safety standards
  • Educating a broad range of employees and external customers without bias

Skills & Experience

 

  • Qualifications and experience in Mobile Plant with recent industry experience essential
  • At least 5 Years post trade experience
  • Preferred but not essential - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • A Team player willing to roll up their sleeves and apply practically what they teach to achieve the common goal with the training team
  • Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written and verbal with the ability to influence and inspire groups of people with a passion for transferring knowledge and skills
  • Previous heavy machinery experience or exposure to Caterpillar products is desirable
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety and the environment

 

You will possess a professional and proactive approach to your work. As a strong communicator and influencer you will have the ability to work effectively with all levels of the business and will be adept in ensuring customer satisfaction during the learning experience.
