The Role

WesTrac is offering an exciting opportunity for a Shift Supervisor to join our high‑performing Rebuilds Workshop in Tomago.

The Rebuilds Workshop operates 24/7 and supports a wide range of Caterpillar mining machines across multiple product lines.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive work environment while leading a diverse team of trades, including plant mechanics, boilermakers, auto electricians, apprentices, and trades assistants.  Reporting to the Area Manager, you will play a key role in driving safety, efficiency, quality, and team culture within a fast‑paced, high‑volume operation.

You will collaborate closely with fellow supervisors and the project management team to deliver industry‑leading rebuilds, overcome operational challenges, and ensure our customers’ assets are rebuilt to the highest standard. Roster

  • Lifestyle roster, working 15/28 days - day and night shifts
  • 5 weeks annual leave + shift allowance!
  • Day shift: 06:00–16:30
  • Night shift: 18:00–06:30

 

Skills & Experience

  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification (Australian recognised)
  • Proven experience in leading teams with a strong focus on workplace safety
  • Demonstrated experience working with mobile plant equipment, Caterpillar equipment is highly desirable.
  • Inspiring leadership style with a strong safety focus and the ability to build a positive team culture.
  • Previous WesTrac and/or Caterpillar experience desirable
  • Advanced organisational skills with ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads and delegate efficiently 
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, manage high workloads, and prioritise effectively.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the drive to identify opportunities and implement change.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Computer literacy skills – MS Office & SAP
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
