About the opportunity

This is a senior technical SME role for someone who thrives on solving the toughest Caterpillar equipment challenges.

As a Senior Technical Specialist, you’ll act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, providing expert guidance across product performance, failure analysis and equipment reliability. You’ll work closely with customers, internal stakeholders and Caterpillar Engineering to deliver effective, data‑driven solutions that keep fleets performing at their best.

This role suits an experienced CAT professional who wants to be recognised as the technical authority and make a tangible impact across NSW operations.

What you’ll do

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for Caterpillar equipment across NSW
  • Investigate complex product and performance issues across service and operations
  • Conduct detailed component failure analysis and root cause investigations
  • Interface directly with Caterpillar Engineering teams on escalations and resolutions
  • Provide high‑quality technical advice to customers and dealer teams
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and performance

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification OR trade qualification with CAT dealer experience
  • Strong experience using CAT diagnostic tools and information systems
  • Proven capability in component failure analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer focused mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Ability to work independently as a senior technical authority
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence

 

Desirable

  • Experience with Electronic Technician, VIMS, VisionLink, SISWeb, CAT CWS
  • SAP experience
  • Exposure to reliability, product support, or fleet performance roles
