About the Opportunity
WesTrac has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our General Workshop New Machines Team located at our Tomago Branch. This workshop has a team of over 100 employees and operates around the clock, building large-scale surface mining and construction equipment. New Machines is a dynamic, solutions-focused, and forward-thinking team who are passionate about delivering high-quality CAT machines to our large-scale customer base across the mining and construction industries.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, in this role, you will lead a team of dedicated project coordinators and administrators. From overseeing the construction of a 301.8 excavator to managing the assembly of a fleet of Off-Highway Trucks (OHTs), Drills or Dozers you will be responsible for the successful execution of a large range of CAT assets. You'll be part of a team that achieves impressive results, coordinating a high volume of new machine builds for a variety of construction and mining customers and working closely with stakeholders in Sales, Engineering, and other support functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring the operational and day to day tactical aspects within the Projects Team.
- Review the progress of high level deliverables across these projects.
- Monitor critical project risks to ensure response and mitigation plans are being executed.
- Monitor and regularly report on the position of the projects regarding financial and contractual obligations.
- Provide leadership, direction, advice, and support to the wider New Machines team.
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
- Encourage collaboration across the business to share best practices and create efficiencies.
- Promote and embed a positive safety culture through demonstrated safety leadership practices.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or experience in a similar role with transferrable skills.
- A Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification is highly desirable.
- Experience working with mobile plant equipment, CAT equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on safety and relationship building.
- Computer literate with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office package.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and handle high work volumes, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet competing deadlines.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with a demonstrated ability to identify improvement initiatives and see them through to implementation.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
