About the opportunity

 

WesTrac, a leading provider of construction equipment and services, is currently seeking a highly capable technician who has experience with Caterpillar or similar construction-sized equipment to join our Newcastle branch. As a Plant Mechanic in our General Construction Workshop at the world-class facility in Tomago, you will play a vital role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of machines for our valued customers in the construction and civil industries. In this role, you will utilise your technical expertise to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with a variety of machinery, including micro to mid-sized excavators, graders, skid-steers, track type tractors, backhoes, and loaders. Your ability to identify problems accurately and efficiently will ensure minimal downtime for our customers. Additionally, you will perform routine maintenance tasks such as inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, and component repairs, contributing to the longevity and optimal performance of the equipment.

 

Roster & Remuneration

 

  • Day Shift 6:00AM – 16:30PM & Night Shift 15:30PM & 2:00AM
  • 4 weeks of days & 1 week of nights – working Monday to Friday
  • Hourly Rate starting from: $43.39 & OT Rate: $65.09
  • Annual starting from: $112,814.00 (before super) and $125,223.54 (with super)

 

Skills & Experience

 

As the successful candidate you will possess the following skills:

  • Mobile Plant, Agriculture or Heavy Vehicle Trade Cert (required)
  • Highly proficient in diagnosing and repairing construction and civil equipment
  • Proficient using SIS and ET (desirable)
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to meeting customer requirements
  • Dedicated to maintaining safe work practices and environment
