Due to continued growth, WesTrac is currently seeking Mobile Plant Mechanics to join both our New Machine Build and Rebuilds sections at our Tomago branch to provide essential support to our large customer base in NSW. Whether you're working on new builds or machine rebuilds, your expertise will be invaluable.

Enjoy the flexibility of a 24/7 workshop—base builds, custom builds, and Dealer Provided Options (DPO's) galore!

As a successful applicant, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, as well as conducting inspections on customer machines. Your extensive technical skills and expertise will be utilised to ensure the highest level of workmanship in a safety-conscious environment.

 

What we're looking for

  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or mechanical trade qualification with heavy industry experience.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar surface mining equipment (desirable).
  • Experience rebuilding mobile mining equipment and/or components desirable.
  • Solutions focused mindset and ability to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Unrestricted Drivers Licence.
  • Close attention to detail and ability to perform tasks to meet Caterpillar quality standards.
  • Team oriented with proven ability to meet set deadlines.

Roster’s and Remuneration

  • Option 1: Monday – Friday (rotating days/nights)
    • Roster Pattern: 2 weeks of days, followed by 2 weeks of nights
    • Day shift: 0600-1630 & Night shift: 1600-0230

 

  • Option 2: Lifestyle Roster (15/28)- working only half the year
    • Roster Pattern: Complete your nights in 1 swing, every 3 weeks! 12-hour shifts
    • Day shift: 0600-1830 & Night shift: 1800-0630
