About the Role

Are you passionate about heavy machinery and eager to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? We’re expanding our General Workshop Rebuilds team at our Tomago branch and want YOU to join us!

We are seeking qualified and experienced Plant Mechanics and/or heavy Diesel/Vehicle Mechanics, to diagnose and repair mechanical issues, conduct inspections on customer machines, and ensure the highest level of workmanship in a safety-conscious environment.

Reporting to the team lead, your role will be crucial in maintaining and repairing Off-Highway Trucks (OHTs), Dozers, Graders, and Drills, including models 789, 793, 777, D10, and D11, as well as some auxiliary equipment.

You will operate within 14 bays and an outside PAD, with one dedicated Boilermaker Bay. At WesTrac, you’ll have the opportunity to work in state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest tools and technology, utilising your extensive technical skills and expertise.

Rosters - Multiple roster options and delayed starts are available!

Option 1: Monday – Friday (rotating days/nights)

• Monday - Friday (50 Hour week + rotating days/nights)
• Roster Pattern: 5D2O x2 5N2O x2
• Day shift: 06:00-16:30 & Night shift: 18:00-02:30
• Hourly rate UP TO $55.87 + OT $83.81*
• Annual earnings UP TO $145k + Super + OT

Option 2: Lifestyle Roster – WORKING ONLY HALF THE YEAR!

• Complete your nights in 1 swing, every 3 weeks!
• Roster Pattern: 5D4O 5N4O – work 15 days out of 28
• Day shift: 0600-1830 & Night shift: 1800-0630 (12.5 HR shifts)
• Hourly rate UP TO $55.87 + OT $83.81*
• Annual earnings UP TO $131k + Super + OT

What we're looking for

• Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or Mechanical trade qualification with heavy industry experience.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar surface mining equipment (desirable).
• Experience rebuilding mobile mining equipment and/or components desirable.
• Solutions focused mindset and ability to adapt to changing requirements.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Unrestricted Drivers Licence.
• Close attention to detail and ability to perform tasks to meet Caterpillar quality standards.
• Team oriented with proven ability to meet set deadlines.
