Plant Mechanic - Leading Hand

About the role

In this leadership role, you’ll work across a wide range of civil & small construction CAT equipment, including:

  • Skid steers
  • Mini excavators (CAT 301.5 and up)
  • Compact loaders
  • Small construction & civil machinery

The job is a mix of 50% hands-on mechanical work and 50% computer-based tasks, including diagnostics, work orders, job planning and team coordination.

You will make sure every machine is repaired, serviced and returned to customers at the highest standard.

Roster & Pay

  • 2 weeks days / 2 weeks nights rotating roster (Mon–Fri)
  • Days: 05:30am–16:00pm
  • Nights: 15:00pm–1:30am
  • OTE from $148k (rates pending skills and experience)

  • Lead, mentor and coordinate a team of skilled technicians.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, efficiency & customer service.
  • Support advanced fault diagnosis and hands-on repair work.
  • Drive team performance through best practice and compliance.
  • Champion a clean, safe and productive workshop environment.

What You’ll need

  • Cert III Mobile Plant or Cert III Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Tech
  • Proven leadership capability (formal or informal)
  • Strong diagnostic and repair experience
  • Experience with CAT machinery (advantageous)
  • Safety‑first mindset and strong communication skills
