Field Service Plant Mechanic – New Machines & Rebuilds Specialists | Newcastle Region
Ready to take your skills beyond the workshop? We’re on the lookout for passionate Field Service Plant Mechanics who thrive on seeing machines come to life and perform at their best.
As a New Machines or Rebuilds Specialist, you’ll work closely with our experienced team to commission new machines or complete full overhauls. From the workshop floor to the customer site, you’ll follow each build through to delivery—ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
Reporting to our Workshop Supervisors, you’ll be the trusted expert in the field—diagnosing, fine-tuning, and supporting customers during those critical early stages of operation. This is your opportunity to take ownership of the full process, backed by a fully equipped tool-of-trade vehicle and a collaborative, high-performing team.
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology (essential)
- Certificate of Proficiency (essential)
- Proven experience with new builds or machine rebuilds
- Familiarity with Caterpillar or similar brand surface mining equipment is essential.
- A proactive, customer-focused mindset and strong diagnostic skills
- Unrestricted Drivers License
- Applicants with site bans are ineligible

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary onsite point of contact, addressing customer requirements and providing excellent customer service.
- Coordinate onsite assembly and customisation of CAT machinery based on customer specifications.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on CAT machinery to ensure optimal working condition before handover.
- Provide travel support, visiting various locations throughout Newcastle and the Hunter Region to offer field service assistance and address customer needs.
- Liaise and coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as Mining Support Representatives and Project Coordinators, to manage customer requests and machine requirements, ensuring a smooth and efficient delivery process.
