WesTrac is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Plant Mechanic to join our General Construction division in Tomago.

Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of machinery for our valued customers in the construction and civil sectors. From mid-sized excavators to backhoes and loaders, you’ll apply your technical expertise to deliver high-quality service and support, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

A Field Service position with WesTrac requires sound Caterpillar product knowledge and a demonstrated ability to build customer relationships. Great diagnostic skills, commitment to safety and ability to manage your workload will see you succeed as a member of our Field Service Crew.


Roster and Remuneration

  • Monday to Friday roster
  • Tool of trade vehicle, mobile and laptop supplied
  • Hourly rates from $53+, Overtime rates from $80+

*Rates above are a guide only and each candidate will be assessed based on competencies and experience


Skills & Experience

  • Cert III Mobile Plant Technology or Heavy Vehicle trade required
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar machinery essential
  • Proven experience/industry exposure
  • Attention to detail with the ability to perform tasks to meet Caterpillar quality standards.
  • Exposure to SIS or ET (highly desirable)
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in the field and in a team
  • Current drivers licence
