Our New Machines workshop at our Tomago branch has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Field Service Leading Hand Plant Mechanic to join our team, providing essential support to our extensive field service base in the local Hunter Region.
As the Leading Hand, you will play a pivotal role in guiding your team and enhancing overall service performance.
Roster and Remuneration
- Monday-Friday (50 Hour week – DAY SHIFT ONLY)
- Roster Pattern: 5D2O
- Shift Times: 06:00-16:30
- Hourly rates UP TO $61.69 + OT $92.54 + Super
- Annual earnings UP TO $161K + Super

Key Responsibilities
- Provide coordination and leadership to a team of Field Service Technicians (auto electricians and plant mechanics)
- Ensuring that work orders are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Complete machine rebuilds of trucks, dozers, loaders, and graders to a Caterpillar quality standard.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
- Coordinating the team’s activities to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction and best practice standards, ensuring all company, quality assurance, and legal requirements are adhered to.
- Accurately diagnose faults and assist with repairs.
Skills & Experience
- Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or Mechanical trade qualification with heavy industry experience
- Familiarity with Caterpillar surface mining equipment desirable
- Experience rebuilding mobile mining equipment desirable
- Attention to detail with ability to perform tasks to meet Caterpillar quality standards
