Ready to take the next step in your career? As WesTrac continues to expand, we’re thrilled to offer opportunities for experienced Light Vehicle Mechanics, Engine Specialists, and Qualified Plant Mechanics to join our high-performing Component Rebuild Centre (CRC) in Tomago.

Whether you're looking to transition from light vehicle into heavy diesel or you’re already a plant mechanic wanting to specialise, this role gives you hands-on exposure to engines, powertrains, and final drives from a wide variety of Caterpillar equipment.

If you’re passionate about CAT components and mechanical problem‑solving, this is an exciting pathway into a highly sought-after specialty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake assembly and disassembly of engines, powertrains, and final drives
  • Assist with component overhauls and repairs
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment
  • Work collaboratively with a skilled team to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work


Roster and Remuneration

Roster One

  • Monday to Friday role
  • Week One – day shift, Week Two – night shift
  • Early finish Fridays!

Roster Two

  • Weekend warrior Friday to Monday
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday off every week!
  • 12.5 hour shifts allowing you to accrue 5 weeks annual leave!


Skills & Experience

  • Light Vehicle Mechanics with component overhaul experience encouraged to apply
  • Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification
  • A strong commitment to safe working practices
  • Experience with component change-outs or engine assembly (advantageous)
  • Exposure to Caterpillar equipment (desirable but not essential)
  • A solutions-focused, adaptable mindset
  • Team-oriented and keen to learn
  • High Risk Work Licences (Forklift/Dogging) desirable
  • Unrestricted Driver’s Licence
