About the role

Join WesTrac as a Field Service Line Borer!

Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you will work from our brand-new line boring vehicles to provide support to our customers with problem-solving, on-site repairs and precision machining. 

As a Field Service Line Borer, you will utilise your experience to craft precision parts using onsite machining techniques including;

  • Operating line boring equipment and ID welders (Hoffman and Triangle).
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
  • Utilising computer literacy skills.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety.
  • Striving for customer satisfaction.
  •  Collaborating with the workshop manager and other tradespeople to enhance quality and efficiency.

Roster and Remuneration

  • Monday-Friday (48-hour week + rotating days/nights)
  • Roster Pattern: 5D2O x2 5N2O x2
  • Monday to Thursday 10.5-hour shifts, Friday 8.5-hour shifts
  • Hourly rates starting from $58+
  • Overtime rates starting from $87+

About You
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a proven track record in the heavy equipment industry. Reliability, hard work, and a thorough understanding of onsite safety responsibilities are essential. Additionally, the candidate should have:

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade with post-trade experience in line boring (Australian recognised)
  • MR Driver’s License (desirable) or the ability to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment (highly regarded).
  • Ability to maintain high standards of work with minimal supervision.
  • Consistent delivery of high-quality work within set time frames.
  • A positive “can-do” attitude with the initiative to problem-solve on the job.
