About the Opportunity

Work on precision machining – not repetitive production

 

If you’re a skilled Machinist who takes pride in precision, tolerances, and working on large, complex components, this is a role where your expertise is genuinely valued.

 

At WesTrac Tomago, you’ll machine high-value CAT components in a modern workshop environment, with consistent long-term work, paid training, and the benefit of being home every night – no FIFO, no shutdowns.

 

Monday to Friday - 48-hour week | EARLY FINISH ON FRIDAYS!

Roster: 5 Days ON 2 Off X 2, then 5 Nights on 2 Off X 2

What you’ll do

This is not a production line role. You’ll be part of a skilled, tight-knit team working on complex rebuild and salvage machining, including:

  • Manual & CNC machining of CAT components
  • Lathes, mills, borers, grinding & surface finishing
  • Working to tight tolerances and engineering drawings
  • Repair and rebuild work on large-scale mining equipment

 

Every job is different – this is variety, problem-solving, and precision work.

 

About you 

  • Trade qualified Machinist (Cert III Mechanical Engineering)
  • Strong experience in manual and/or CNC machining
  • Confident reading drawings and working to tolerances
  • Safety-focused, reliable, and takes pride in quality workmanship

 

Highly regarded (but not essential):

  • Experience with heavy industry or mining equipment
  • Line boring or large component machining
