Our Machine Shop is seeking experienced First Class Machinists to join our high‑performing team in Tomago.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will operate both CNC and manual machining equipment to repair, modify, and refine CAT components with precision. Your strong technical background and meticulous attention to detail will enable you to confidently interpret engineering drawings, apply dimensional tolerances, and ensure every job is completed to WesTrac’s exacting standards.

This role is ideal for machinists who enjoy hands‑on problem‑solving and want genuine development opportunities— including clear pathways into Field Service Line Boring. Your ability to troubleshoot, think critically, and adapt to complex tasks will be key to your success.

As a First Class Machinist, you’ll bring a safety‑first mindset, strong time‑management skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. Your contribution will play an essential role in supporting our customers and keeping CAT equipment performing at its best.


 Roster & Remuneration

  • Roster Pattern: 2 weeks day shift, 2 weeks night shift
  • Monday to Thursday 10.5-hour shifts, Friday 8.5-hour shifts
  • Hourly rates from $48+
  • Overtime rates from $73+

Skills & Experience

  • Australian recognised Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade essential
  • Experience with manual and CNC Machining (FANUC programming) including but not limited to Lathes, Milling Machines, Horizontal and vertical borers, cylindrical and surface grinding, and surface coatings (Laser, HVOF and Metal Spraying).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Nationally accredited Forklift, Dogman, and Working at Heights tickets desirable
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment is highly regarded.
