About the role
Our Customer Solutions team is seeking a Demand Analyst to join us full‑time at our Tomago Head Office. This position plays a key role in forecasting component demand and supporting strategic planning activities, with strong potential for ongoing career development within WesTrac.
As a Demand Analyst, you’ll analyse future demand for NSW/ACT component rebuilds and convert these insights into practical recommendations that set the direction for inventory and labour planning. You’ll prepare the quarterly PLESN file that informs Caterpillar of future inventory requirements, ensuring we’re proactive, ready, and best positioned to deliver on sales opportunities while meeting customer demand.
Your work will enable confident decision-making, resource alignment to the market, and strengthen our reputation for reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse planned and unplanned component demand and translate insights into accurate labour forecasts that support proactive operational planning.
- Identify, interpret, and report on demand trends and variances to enhance forecast accuracy and support strategic, data‑driven decision‑making across the business.
- Provide recommendations that shape strategic planning, inventory management and resource allocation across NSW/ACT.
- Develop, maintain and enhance the cross‑functional asset management tool, ensuring consistent and accurate demand inputs across all business units.
- Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across teams to support alignment and shared outcomes.
- Champion WesTrac values and safety standards by modelling appropriate behaviours, following planning and scheduling procedures, and actively identifying and controlling hazards.
What we’re looking for
- Tertiary qualification in Economics, Business, Mathematics, Finance or similar, with experience in an analytical role (maintenance planning and/or demand forecasting advantageous).
- Proven forecasting and planning capability.
- Strong forecasting capability with proficiency in Excel and MS Project (pivot tables, lookups, data modelling desirable.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-changing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and planning skills; comfortable working both autonomously and in a team.
