Auto Electrician – Rebuilds Workshop | Tomago
WesTrac is seeking a skilled and motivated Auto Electrician to join our high‑performing Rebuilds Workshop in Tomago.
In this workshop‑based role, you will work on the complete overhaul and electrical restoration of surface mining equipment for some of our largest customers across NSW. This includes hands‑on work across a wide range of Caterpillar machinery such as M Series Graders, Off‑Highway Trucks (789, 793, 777), Dozers (D10, D11), Drills, and auxiliary equipment.
You will diagnose electrical issues, repair and upgrade systems, complete component installations, and ensure all work is delivered to Caterpillar and WesTrac’s exacting quality standards. Working alongside a team of highly skilled Auto Electricians, Plant Mechanics, and trades professionals, you will play a key role in returning machines to peak performance.
This opportunity is perfect for Auto Electricians who enjoy technical, hands‑on work, structured workshop hours, and being part of a supportive team in a state‑of‑the‑art rebuilds facility. You will also gain valuable experience that can support long‑term progression, including future pathways into field service.
Roster Options
Option 1: Monday-Friday (Rotating Days/Nights)
- 50‑hour week, rotating days and nights
- Roster pattern: 5D2O x2, 5N2O x2
- Day shift: 06:00-16:30
- Night shift: 16:00-02:30
- Hourly rates from: $53+
- OT rates: $80+
Option 2: Lifestyle Roster - Work Only Half the Year!
- Complete all night shifts in one swing every three weeks
- Roster pattern: 5D4O, 5N4O (15 working days out of 28)
- Day shift: 06:00-18:30
- Night shift: 18:00-06:30
- Hourly rates from: $53+
- OT rates: $80+

Skills & Experience
- Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (Australian Recognised) with heavy industry experience
- Caterpillar product knowledge and maintenance experience desirable
- Diagnostic and repair skills and a strong commitment to service excellence
- Excellent attitude to your work, and dedication to safe work practices
- Current Drivers Licence
