We have an exciting opportunity to join WesTrac on a full-time, permanent basis (40 hours) as an AI data and Automation Specialist in a newly created, business‑facing role. This position is ideal for someone who is keen to get stuck in, build capability from the ground up, and help shape how automation, data and AI are used across the organisation.
What you will do:
· Analyse and document current processes, systems and ways of working, providing clear feedback and practical recommendations on improved and more efficient ways of doing things
· Identify opportunities to apply automation, data and AI to improve efficiency, insight and business outcomes
· Work with stakeholders to assess feasibility, value, risk and readiness for change
· Develop clear, well‑reasoned business cases to support investment decisions
· Support and project manage approved initiatives through each stage of the stage‑gate process
· Oversee implementation, embedding and training to ensure solutions are adopted and deliver value
· Manage stakeholders throughout the change, balancing business needs, expectations and outcomes
· Ensure all solutions align with data governance, privacy, ethical AI principles and GDPR requirements
What you will need:
- Experience in business analysis, automation, data or AI‑related roles (typically 3–6 years)
- Strong ability to analyse current ways of working and identify better, more efficient approaches
- Experience developing business cases and supporting technology or process change initiatives
- Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- An understanding of data governance, privacy and ethical considerations in AI implementation
- A practical, outcomes‑focused mindset with the ability to follow initiatives through end‑to‑end
- Experience in construction, mining or industrial environments is beneficial but not essential.
