WesTrac is on the lookout for a talented and driven Asset Reliability Specialist/Engineer to step into a key role within our Mining Support Team as a Site Performance Specialist, supporting our valued customer base in the Gunnedah region.
Reporting to the Mining Support Manager, you will be a trusted technical partner - helping our customer unlock the full potential of their CAT fleet. Your work will directly influence equipment performance, efficiency, and longevity, making you an essential contributor to site optimisation and operational success.
In this high‑impact role, you’ll combine technical expertise with data‑driven insights to deliver outstanding support. From analysing fleet performance trends to advising on maintenance strategies and diagnosing issues before they become problems, you’ll be at the forefront of driving continuous improvement across site operations.

This is a full‑time, permanent opportunity, Monday to Friday, with relocation assistance available for those looking to make the move to the Gunnedah region.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusted relationships with our key client, fostering ongoing partnership and collaboration.
- Analyse fleet performance data to identify opportunities to enhance reliability, efficiency, and overall asset health.
- Conduct wear management inspections and deliver clear, high‑quality technical reports.
- Work closely with site teams to minimise unplanned downtime through thorough diagnosis and preventative strategies.
- Review and recommend improvements to maintenance and operating practices to drive best‑in‑class performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment concerns and provide timely, effective technical solutions.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a Mechanical Trade Certificate.
- Familiarity with CAT systems like DBS, SIS, ET, SIMSi, and TMI is a big plus.
- A current C Class Driver’s License.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Proven capability in diagnosing equipment faults and developing practical solutions.
- Ability to work autonomously or within a team environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in analysing asset health and performance data, and preparing detailed reporting.
- A strong safety‑first mindset with a commitment to upholding WesTrac safety standards and procedures.
