Business Development Specialist – Construction Industry Rebuilds  

About the role 

WesTrac is currently seeking a Business Development Specialist (BDS), based out of our Tomago or Casula branch. This role will on a Monday-Friday full-time basis, with opportunity for hybrid work opportunities. 

Reporting to the CI Aftermarket Manager, the Business Development Specialist, is the key point of contact for the execution and marketing plans for rebuilds in Construction Industry. This role is responsible for supporting parts and service sales growth across NSW/ACT within the designated focus area, and for assisting internal teams in successfully securing rebuild tenders. Success in this role relies on strong collaboration with WesTrac branches and sales teams to engage with customers and competitors, delivering tailored solutions that drive customer satisfaction and sales growth. 

The Business Development Specialist is expected to contribute to the development of targeted sales and service strategies aligned with their focus area and industry. This role is the primary contact for dealer dependencies and for addressing customers or internal matters. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Drive and implement sales and service strategies to grow parts and service revenue across NSW/ACT, with a focus on key industries and target areas 
  • Provide direction and updates to relevant internal stakeholders relating to the development and changes from competitors and Cat offerings 
  • Lead sales initiatives and build strategic partnerships with key customers and CAT to identify, develop, and validate opportunities 
  • Analyse customer data and market insights to recommend sales strategies, tools, and plans that support parts and service revenue growth  
  • Evaluate business strengths and market offerings for allocated areas, and make recommendations on products or process improvements to better meet customer needs and enhance value 
  • Support the identification of training and development needs to strengthen the team’s sales capabilities 
  • Support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and make actionable recommendations to enhance operational efficiency 

Skills & Experience 

  • Experience in a similar role desirable 
  • Current knowledge of and established connections with prospective customers across NSW and ACT 
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, including process mapping, troubleshooting, and business analysis 
  • Proven experience managing internal stakeholders and building strong customer relationships 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal with the ability to effectively liaise at a high level 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
