WesTrac is expanding its site‑embedded maintenance team in the Hunter Valley and is seeking experienced Plant Mechanics and Auto Electricians to support one of the Hunter Valley’s largest mining operations. These are permanent, long‑term onsite roles working exclusively on CAT® mobile plant, backed by the scale, stability and capability of the world’s largest authorised Caterpillar dealer.

This is not a contractor churn role. This is a career maintenance position with best‑in‑class tooling, OEM systems, structured development and real lifestyle balance.

The Work

Plant Mechanics

  • Maintain, inspect and repair CAT mobile plant
  • Perform OEM‑aligned diagnostics and fault finding
  • Planned maintenance, breakdowns and reliability work
  • Use modern tooling, systems and CAT diagnostic technology

 

Auto Electricians

  • Diagnose and repair plant electrical and control systems
  • Work across ET, SIS, VIMS, sensors & wiring harnesses
  • Preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
  • Work to CAT OEM and site safety standards

What You Bring

  • Relevant Trade Qualification (Mobile Plant / Auto Electrical)
  • Mining or heavy equipment experience (open cut preferred)
  • Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capability
  • Commitment to safe, team‑based work
  • MDG25, Working at Heights, site inductions (highly regarded)
