Workshop Supervisor

WesTrac is seeking a Workshop Supervisor to join our Perth Branch Heavy Construction Workshop, working alongside another supervisor to lead our team of technicians. Reporting to the Area Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing work order management, ensuring compliance with Caterpillar and customer requirements and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You will be leading a young team, providing mentorship and guidance to help them grow into skilled, high performing professionals. Roster:  5 days on 2 days off (Mon – Fri) 10H

Location: Perth Branch, WA

 

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure a Safe Work Environment: Provide team members with a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to company safety procedures and Safety Lifesaving Rules
  • Incident Reporting: Ensure team members understand and follow the incident/accident/hazard reporting system and processes
  • Leadership and Development: Provide leadership to team members, identifying and offering appropriate development opportunities
  • Performance Management: Review team member performance through regular meetings, formal reviews, and coaching, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement
  • Resource Management: Effectively manage team resources, including temporary transfers to maintain productivity targets and ensuring adequate resourcing levels
  • Continuous Improvement: Embed the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) methodology, utilizing KPI and Continuous Improvement (CI) boards to unify the team and identify improvement opportunities
  • Customer and Compliance: Adhere to customer safety requirements and ensure all work order paperwork is complete and forwarded for job invoicing promptly

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Trade certificate with a minimum of 8 years post trade experience
  • Minimum of 2 years people management skills
  • Intermediate Computer Literacy Skills (including MS Office Suite)
  • Advanced communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
  • Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to successfully manage fluctuating workloads and prioritise accordingly
  • Highly developed attention to detail
  • Completion or attainment towards Certificate IV Frontline Management (desirable)
