Join WesTrac’s New Machines team in Perth as a Leading Hand – Calibrations & Connectivity, where you’ll play a key role in leading calibration and connectivity activities for CAT® equipment. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity, ideal for a technically strong tradesperson who enjoys guiding others while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Based at our Perth Branch, this role is workshop-focused and offers stability, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to develop your career with one of the world’s largest authorised Caterpillar dealers.


About the Role

As the Leading Hand, you’ll provide day-to-day leadership within the Construction New Machine workshop, overseeing work execution while remaining hands-on. You’ll coordinate people, tooling, workflow, and quality outcomes to ensure operational targets and customer turnaround times are met — all while modelling WesTrac’s strong safety culture and SPARC values.

You’ll also play a key role in developing capability across the wider business through training and technical support.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead and coordinate calibration and connectivity activities within the workshop.
  • Complete calibrations on CAT Excavators, Dozers, Graders, Loaders, and Rollers.
  • Train BCP and GCI technicians on:
    • 2D & 3D installs and commissioning
    • Terrain installs and commissioning
    • Product Link installs and commissioning
  • Manage and maintain the calibration schedule.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and oversight to 1–2 technicians at any given time.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with OEM specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and efficient work environment aligned with WesTrac values.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in heavy equipment or technology-based commissioning of CI products.
  • Proven frontline leadership experience (Leading Hand, Team Leader, Senior Technician or similar).
  • Strong understanding of OEM specifications and diagnostics.
  • High level of computer literacy, including digital work orders and documentation.
  • Sound understanding of HSE risk management and quality assurance.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.

  • 5/2 roster
  • Day shift only
  • 10-hour days
  • Residential role based at Perth Branch (no FIFO)
