Join our Regional Team in Newman as a Field Service Heavy Diesel Mechanic and take on a role where no two days look the same.
Working a FIFO roster with potential for Residential options, you’ll be hands‑on with a wide range of CAT machinery—everything from D10/D11 Dozers and 992–994 Loaders to 24M Graders and 777F–793F Off‑Highway Trucks.
You'll diagnose, repair, and support customer equipment both in the workshop and out in the field across the Pilbara.

At our Newman Branch, you’ll be part of a specialist team known for delivering high‑quality maintenance, repairs, and diagnostic services on Caterpillar equipment. Roster Options: 

  • 10 On, 4 Off – Days – Residential 10 hrs/day
  • 9 On, 5 Off – Residential 11 hrs/day
  • 14 On, 7 Off – Days – FIFO 12 hrs/day, Residential 10 hrs/day
  • 14 On, 14 Off – Days – FIFO 12 hrs/day
  • 12 On, 9 Off – Days – FIFO 12 hrs/day

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform warranty and customer repairs on CAT machinery.
  • Conduct regular field service work from Newman Branch and on customer sites across the Pilbara.
  • Work on equipment including Dozers, Loaders, Graders, and Trucks.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed safely and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team with WesTrac and customer employees to achieve a safe and satisfactory outcome.
  • Maintain and comply with fleet regulations and standards.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Australian Recognised Heavy-Duty Trade Certificate with post-trade experience
  • Prior Field Service or Regional Minesite experience maintaining similar fleet type
  • Truck License – Min. LR, HR/MR preferred
  • ARC Refrigerant Handling License AAC02 or above - Preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Heavy equipment product knowledge – Component change out experience (desired)
