Plant Mechanic - Leading Hand

Reporting into the Contract Supervisor, the Leading Hand Plant Mechanic will join our Murrin Murrin branch on a full-time permanent basis located in the Goldfields. Your responsibilities will involve the hands-on supervision of a crew of 13 Trades as well as carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance to equipment enrolled within the contract.

You will assist to provide Equipment Management solutions to WesTrac's customer while also ensuring work is completed in a collaborative, team environment with a strong focus on safety.

The Murrin Murrin branch provides top-tier machinery solutions and support that cater to the evolving needs of the mining industry. Our expert team is focused on delivering innovative, reliable, and efficient Caterpillar equipment to maximize productivity and ensure operational safety.

FIFO Roster: 
7 days, 7 nights, 7 off – 12.5 hrs each day (inclusive of 30 mins unpaid break)

What You’ll Do: 
•     Lead and motivate a team of mechanics and apprentices 
•     Promote and encourage high safety and quality standards
•     Assist in training and developing team members
•     Handle high volume work efficiently
•     Implement product improvement plan.
 
Skills & Experience: 
•     Mobile Plant, Heavy Diesel or Auto Electrician Trade Qualification with post trade      
      experience.
•     Previous experience in a leadership or Leading Hand position desirable.
•     Certificate of Statutory Supervisor.
•     Understanding of Caterpillar Equipment and CAT Warranty Process.
•     AMT, SIS, ET, DBS knowledge for daily work order control and management.
•     Strong mechanical skills including fault finding and diagnostic.
•     Ability to provide positive leadership, manage people & resolve conflict.
