Trades Assistant – Undercarriage & Rebuilds | Mt Thorley

Are you looking to step into the workshop environment and build practical skills with full support and training? Join our Mt Thorley Rebuilds Workshop as a Trades Assistant and help deliver industry‑leading radiator overhauls for one of the world’s largest CAT dealers. You’ll be part of a welcoming team that values safety, teamwork and personal growth.

In this role, you’ll support our Radiator Overhaul Team with strip‑downs, cleaning, preparation and reassembly of components. You’ll be supported by experienced technicians who will guide you through each step, helping you build confidence as you learn.

You’ll also play an important role in keeping the workshop clean, organised and running smoothly. At times, you’ll assist with other rebuild activities across the workshop, giving you exposure to a range of tasks and helping you develop well‑rounded skills.

This is a great opportunity for someone with some industry experience who is safety‑focused, keen to learn, and looking to grow their career in an inclusive and supportive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Performing inspections, pressure testing, preparation, and other radiator related mechanical tasks
  • Operating workshop tools and equipment safely and competently
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and hazard free work environment across the Cooling Systems area
  • Completing general labouring and workshop tasks to keep radiator overhaul workflows moving efficiently
  • Working collaboratively with radiator specialists and supervisors to deliver high quality outcomes
  • Providing occasional support to broader machine rebuild activities when required

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, labourer, or similar workshop role (preferred)
  • A genuine interest in heavy equipment, mechanical work, or trade pathways
  • Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow procedures
  • Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
  • Unrestricted Driver’s Licence
  • Forklift, dogging, or other relevant tickets (desirable but not essential)
