About the role 

As a Senior HSE Advisor, you will be the trusted expert guiding leaders and teams to operate safely, sustainably, and in full compliance with legislation and WesTrac standards.

You’ll partner closely with leaders at every level—coaching, influencing and empowering them to build a culture that is Safe, Engaged and Customer Focused. Using your analytical strengths, you'll translate HSE data and trends into meaningful insights, providing proactive, hands‑on support that drives continuous improvement in risk reduction and safety performance.

Beyond your advisory impact, you’ll play a key role within the HSE team—mentoring others, facilitating problem‑solving initiatives, and championing strategic safety projects that enhance how our people work every day. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide trusted HSE advice and hands‑on support to leaders and teams, driving safer behaviours and improved safety performance across the region.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders by engaging regularly to support effective, safe, and compliant operations.
  • Analyse safety data, prepare clear reports and insights, and partner with leaders to identify trends and strengthen risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and participate in incident, injury and near‑miss investigations, ensuring thorough analysis and timely follow‑through on corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and concise HSE system data, ensuring high‑quality reporting and continual improvement opportunities are identified.
  • Conduct branch audits, inspections, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Facilitate training, support behavioural change initiatives, and contribute to HSE strategies and projects aligned to business objectives.
  • Support the risk management framework and ongoing improvement of HSE systems, processes and tools across the organisation.
  • Champion initiatives that simplify systems, remove barriers, and promote safe work practices at every level of the business.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or a related field desirable, or equivalent experience gained in a safety business‑partnering role.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, standards, codes of practice and injury management, including workers’ compensation and return‑to‑work processes.
  • Proven experience working within high‑risk industries such as mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach and build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders, driving positive safety outcomes and behavioural change.
  • Experience contributing to cultural transformation and embedding improved safety behaviours across diverse teams.
  • High level of analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the confidence to interpret data, make recommendations and initiate action.
  • Advanced computer literacy and strong capability working with HSE systems, reporting tools and digital platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to regional sites as required.
