About the role
As the HSE Manager for Regional NSW/ACT, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering our health and safety strategy across the region. Reporting to the Group Manager – Safety, Sustainability & Risk, you’ll drive compliance with legislation and internal standards while championing a proactive, best‑practice approach to safety.
Leading a dedicated regional HSE team, you’ll foster a culture focused on Duty of Care and a workplace free from harm. You will work closely with senior leadership, providing expert guidance, insights and regular updates to support continuous improvement and strong safety performance across all sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify operational risks and recommend effective controls to strengthen safety outcomes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and partner cross‑functionally to embed sustainable change.
- Deliver meaningful insights by analysing Safety Management System data and providing clear recommendations that add value across the business.
- Coach and mentor Safety Advisors, building capability and fostering a high‑performing safety team.
- Lead incident investigations and drive the timely implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment processes to support informed decision‑making.
- Ensure compliance with all WHS/HSE legislation and company standards and communicate changes to key stakeholders.
- Oversee safety projects and ensure effective change management throughout implementation.
- Provide expert advice on best‑practice safety approaches to continuously enhance a positive HSE culture.
- Build strong, meaningful relationships with managers, customers and stakeholders to influence and strengthen safety performance.
What we’re looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety, supported by extensive post‑graduation experience desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, standards and codes of practice, including injury management, workers compensation and return‑to‑work processes.
- Exceptional ability to build rapport, influence outcomes and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience within mining, construction, or similarly high‑risk heavy industries.
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the confidence to make recommendations and drive action.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to guide, mentor and develop others.
- Flexibility to travel when required to regional sites.
