As a Plant Mechanic at Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM), one of Australia's largest open-pit gold mines, is a world-class asset where you'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and repairing Caterpillar machines. WesTrac KCGM, in partnership with Northern Star, is dedicated to maintaining a large fleet of machines through scheduled servicing, planned shutdowns, and minor in-pit repairs to ensure Northern Star mining operations run as smoothly as possible, as our onsite team excels in mobile workshop and on-site repairs.

 

Your Residential Roster: 

 

  • 7 Days (day shift), 3 Days RDO, 7 Days (night shift), 4 Days RDO
  • 12 hours per day (including a 30-minute meal break) 
  • Perth FIFO options are available but limited - roster 2/1

 

Relocation to Kalgoorlie is available for candidates and their families.

 

What You'll Do: 

 

  • Perform scheduled and daily maintenance, servicing, and inspections of mobile mining, earthmoving and ancillary plant equipment. 
  • Maintain accurate lubricant records and machine hours for each piece of equipment.
  • Support WesTrac and the customer by following the maintenance process safely and efficiently.
  • Report faults/defects and complete service reports using CAT Inspect.
  • Operate forklifts.
  • Implement product improvement plans.

 

What You’ll Need: 

 

  • Australian Driver's Licence (Light Rigid or Medium Rigid). 
  • Australian-recognised Heavy Mobile Plant trade certificate with post-trade experience. 
  • High-risk Work Licence (Forklift, Dogging, Rigging, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces). 
  • Strong computer literacy with excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience in maintenance servicing heavy equipment (mobile plant/ancillary). 
  • Excellent customer service and safety-focused mindset. 
  • Confidence to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
