WesTrac is seeking an experienced operational leader to oversee our Maintenance Partnership Agreement (MPA) with Northern Star Resources at the iconic KCGM Fimiston Super Pit in Kalgoorlie.

Reporting to the Group Manager – Resource Industries Aftermarket, this role is responsible for the operational performance, safety, customer outcomes, and commercial success of a strategic maintenance contract managing approximately 90 pieces of mining equipment and a team of 110 personnel.

Roster: 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off | 10.5-hour days

 

About the Role:

As Operations Manager, you will provide visible leadership across the site and drive safe, efficient, contract delivery. You will be accountable for operational performance, equipment reliability, customer satisfaction, financial outcomes, and the ongoing development of your team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a large multidisciplinary workforce, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of maintenance planning and asset management systems to optimise maintenance execution and equipment performance.
  • Drive equipment reliability strategies that maximise asset availability and minimise unplanned downtime.
  • Partner closely with Northern Star Resources and internal stakeholders to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
  • Develop, execute, and manage annual operating and maintenance budgets while ensuring contractual compliance and cost control.
  • Oversee strategic parts procurement, inventory management, and logistics activities to support operational continuity.
  • Lead warranty management processes and act as the key liaison between WesTrac, Caterpillar, and the customer.
  • Identify and implement initiatives that reduce total cost of ownership while improving operational performance and asset health.
  • Monitor operational and financial performance against key contractual and business objectives.

About You:

You are a proven senior leader with a strong background in mining, maintenance, asset management, or heavy industrial operations. You combine exceptional people leadership with commercial acumen and a customer-focused mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Business, Asset Management, or a related discipline with substantial relevant leadership experience; or
  • Diploma/Certificate qualification with extensive industry experience in mining maintenance, asset management, or related fields.

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated success leading large operational or maintenance teams in mining or heavy industry environments.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
  • Sound commercial and financial management experience, including budgeting and performance reporting.
  • Strong maintenance, reliability, and asset management knowledge.
  • Highly developed problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence outcomes across customers, employees, business partners, and senior leadership teams.
