Workshop Supervisor

Reporting to the Area Manager – New Machines Mining, the Workshop Supervisor leads the New Mining Machines execution team, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards to deliver strong customer satisfaction. The role is accountable for managing work orders and maintaining high compliance to plan, supporting WesTrac’s productivity targets and adherence to Caterpillar and customer requirements. This is achieved through effective leadership across safety, training, coaching, and task allocation for trades, non‑trades personnel, and contractors.

 

Roster – Monday – Friday, 10.5 Hrs/Day (including meal break)

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Drive visible safety leadership by actively engaging on the workshop floor, leading effective Prestart meetings, allocating tasks clearly with risk awareness, supporting JHA processes, promoting environmental responsibility, and creating action plans that strengthen team engagement and culture.

 

  • Support team performance by addressing skills gaps, assigning and overseeing tasks, driving accountability, aligning expectations with business targets, and ensuring effective labour planning through proactive forecasting and escalation.

 

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a diverse, high-performing team by fostering engagement, driving performance, supporting succession planning, embedding change, and ensuring delivery against agreed plans and performance targets.

 

  • Compliance to plan is the accountability of the Supervisor - Execution. Formal plan compliance including an understanding of the execution tasks will be from Supervisor to Leading hand each shift.  Any deviation to the planned executions tasks on the week of execution, will require approval from the Area Manager

 

  • Support continuous improvement by facilitating CPS meetings, encouraging idea-sharing, actioning improvements, and coordinating capital expenditure requests through appropriate financial processes.

 

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Trade qualified Plant Mechanic (dual trade highly regarded)
  • Previous supervisory experience 2-3 years preferred
  • Proficient computer user with strong MS Office capability.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage shifting workloads, prioritise effectively, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and utilising the knowledge and rapport to exceed customer expectations.
