Workshop Supervisor

The Workshop Supervisor, reporting to the Area Manager, oversees the operations of the Hydraulics store. They lead and supervise the team to maintain high standards of safety and work quality, manage work orders efficiently, and ensure the store meets productivity, compliance, and performance targets aligned with Caterpillar, customer, and WesTrac requirements.

Location: South Guilford

Roster: Monday – Friday Days, 10.5 Hrs (Including unpaid meal break)

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain a safe workplace by enforcing all safety procedures and Life Saving Rules, ensuring correct incident reporting, completing required SAOs, escalating LTIs/MTIs immediately, participating in safety and environmental meetings, and adhering to customer safety requirements.
  • Lead the team by embedding CPS and continuous improvement, communicating KPIs, ensuring policy and standard‑work compliance, managing resources to maintain productivity, overseeing performance and coaching, resolving workshop issues, supporting PSI/Toolbox meetings, ensuring accurate daily timesheets, and approving training/leave to maintain adequate resourcing.
  • Drive efficient workshop operations by enforcing task‑time and standard‑work processes, supporting apprentices, resolving customer issues, conducting root‑cause and failure reviews, managing technician productivity, maintaining accurate work‑order documentation, overseeing warranty claims, securing pre‑ordered parts, and ensuring tool calibration and process controls remain current.
  • Ensure quality and compliance by adhering to ISO9001 and WesTrac procedures, embedding 5 Star Safety and CPS, maintaining accurate bay boards, using QAD, completing audits, driving continuous improvement actions (including closing CPS CI cards within 30 days), and ensuring all non‑manual processes are documented and followed.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Trade‑qualified with at least 8 years’ post‑trade experience and a minimum of 2 years in people management and similar supervisory roles.
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office) and advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage fluctuating workloads and priorities.
