Telecommunications Network Engineer

Join WesTrac and help support and evolve a large-scale, enterprise network across a geographically distributed environment. We’re looking for a hands-on Network Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, collaborating with experienced engineers, and working with modern Cisco technologies in a complex, business-critical environment.

 

Reporting to the Network and Unified Communications Lead, you will play a key role in supporting the deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of WesTrac’s enterprise network. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, infrastructure teams, and project stakeholders to ensure our networks remain reliable, secure, and fit for purpose.

 

This role suits a technically capable engineer with strong fundamentals, a proactive mindset, and a desire to grow their enterprise networking experience.

 

Location:  South Guildford

Roster:  Mon to Fri 8.5 hours per day (including lunch break)

 

  • Provide operational support for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving network incidents and performance issues
  • Assist with the implementation, configuration, and deployment of network solutions
  • Support and maintain enterprise networking technologies including SD-WAN, SDA, wireless, and firewalls
  • Follow established standards, processes, and governance frameworks to ensure consistent service delivery
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendors, and site stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures
  • Contribute to network upgrades, lifecycle activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify and suggest opportunities to improve network efficiency, security, and manageability

 

About You

You’re a motivated Network Engineer with solid technical foundations and experience supporting enterprise environments. You enjoy working collaboratively, take pride in delivering reliable outcomes, and are comfortable working within established processes while contributing improvement ideas.

 

 

Skills and Experience:

 

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent practical experience
  • 2–4 years’ experience supporting enterprise network environments
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching
  • Practical exposure to:
    • Cisco SD-WAN
    • Cisco Catalyst Center
    • Cisco SDA (fabric operations and policy)
    • Cisco ISE (authentication, access control, policy management)
  • Experience supporting firewalls (Palo Alto preferred)
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
  • Enterprise Wi-Fi deployment and troubleshooting experience
  • CCNA certification (CCNP highly regarded)

 

Desirable

  • Exposure to Cisco Nexus / data centre switching
  • Basic Cisco Unified Communications administration (CUCM, Unity, UCCX)
  • Experience working in large, distributed enterprise or mining environments
