Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, as a Senior Legal Counsel you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to provide legal advice on a diverse range of issues across WesTrac’s business. You will be able to hone your commercial acumen and negotiation skills during strategic contract negotiations critical to WesTrac’s revenue growth and long term strategy.  With the support of WesTrac’s General Counsel, you will have everything you need to excel in the role and develop your career. 

 

Location: South Guildford, WA

Roster: Monday – Friday, 8.5-hour days

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the negotiation, execution and management of high value, strategic customer sales contracts critical to continued growth.
  • Advise on a broad range of matters including disputes and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide practical solutions to a diverse range of problems impacting the business.
  • Provide thought leadership on legal, risk and compliance matters including the development and provision of training to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure WesTrac’s compliance with legislative requirements by monitoring legislative changes and implementing appropriate compliance programmes and frameworks.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience as a qualified legal professional specialising in commercial, corporate, commercial litigation, construction or mining law
  • In-house legal experience desirable, but not essential
  • Bachelor of Laws
  • Admission to the Supreme Court of WA (or other Australian jurisdiction) and current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Robust commercial acumen and sound judgement
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills in the provision of legal advice
