Senior Accounts Payable Officer

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Lead, the Senior Accounts Payable Officer co-ordinates the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable function, including timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and master data updates, routine payment runs to suppliers and other treasury related payments that may be required. The position is accountable for ensuring compliance with relevant purchasing policies and procedures.
Location: South Guildford, WA
Roster: Monday – Friday,8.5 hours (including .5 for lunch break)
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct guidance, mentoring and support to the Accounts Payable Officers and be an immediate escalation contact for issue resolution.
- Coordination of timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and credit notes to ensure payment on time.
- Review of supplier payments and vendor master updates to ensure accuracy.
- Support the Accounts Payable Manager in times of absence to ensure all accounts are processed according to departmental policies and procedures and all master data updates are reviewed and approved. This includes acting as the liaison between AP and stakeholders for any issues that arise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, attending to vendor and internal customer enquiries in a timely manner as necessary.
- Proactively identify processes that would benefit from improvements and recommend the appropriate action.
- Assisting with completion and review of procedures and work instructions.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Secondary completion (Year 12 school level, or equivalent)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable role within a medium to large scale organisation.
- Ability to work successfully within a team and providing guidance and support to other team members.
- Advanced time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet objectives.
- Highly developed administrative and reconciliation skills with a sound understanding of the functionality of SAP Accounts Payable and OpenText.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain successful working relationships.
- Intermediate computer literacy skills (MS Office).
- High attention to detail with the ability to analyse data, identify discrepancies and provide recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives.
