Ready to take the next step in your machining career? As a Second Class Machinist (Machine Shop), you'll work with advanced machining equipment, produce high-quality components, and help support some of Australia's largest mining and construction operations.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced machinist who has developed strong machining skills through industry experience and is looking to further their career in a modern workshop environment with access to new CNC technology and ongoing development opportunities.

 

Roster & Location

  • South Guildford
  • 5 days on, 2 days off rotating roster
  • 2 weeks of day shift: 6:00am to 4:30pm (10.5 hours inclusive of a 30-minute unpaid meal break)
  • 2 weeks of night shift: 4:00pm to 2:30am (10.5 hours inclusive of a 30-minute unpaid meal break)
  • 25% night shift loading applied to all hours worked on night shift

 

What You Will Do

  • Operate a variety of manual and CNC machining equipment, including Horizontal Borers, Vertical Borers and CNC Mills.
  • Machine components to specification by interpreting engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances.
  • Use precision measuring instruments including callipers, micrometers, dial indicators and bore gauges to inspect and verify completed work.
  • Prioritise workloads to achieve production targets and meet customer requirements.
  • Complete machining activities safely, efficiently and within allocated timeframes.
  • Apply safety processes and procedures including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Take 5s and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to a team focused on quality workmanship, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience as a machinist, trades assistant machinist, machine operator or in a similar machining/manufacturing environment. Formal trade qualifications are not essential.
  • Experience operating manual machining equipment such as horizontal borers, vertical borers, lathes or milling machines.
  • Exposure to CNC machining equipment is highly regarded.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and machine components to specified tolerances.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including callipers, dial indicators, bore micrometers and gauges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Good time management skills and basic computer literacy.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Forklift licence essential.
  • Dogging or rigging tickets are desirable but not essential.
