Pre Trade Trainer
Guildford, WA, AU
Reporting to the Pre-Trade Training Supervisor, the Technical Trainer (Pre-Trade Trainer) is responsible for training, mentoring and assessing apprentices to help them build the skills needed for a successful trade career.
You'll deliver hands-on training, provide guidance and support, manage training records and assessments, and ensure all training meets WesTrac standards and RTO requirements. Strong trade knowledge, a commitment to safety, and a passion for developing others are key to success in this role.
Location: South Guildford, WA
Roster: Monday – Friday, 8.5 hours (including lunch break)
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain a safe training environment and ensure all training is delivered in line with WesTrac's safety standards.
- Deliver scheduled training and assessments to apprentices and other participants using approved training materials and programs.
- Complete all required training records, assessments and documentation accurately and on time.
- Develop and improve training resources, learning materials and assessment tools in collaboration with trainers and subject matter experts.
- Work closely with the wider Learning & Development team to ensure a high standard of training delivery and customer support.
- Review and evaluate training programs, identifying opportunities for improvement and participating in curriculum validation activities.
- Conduct reassessments, manage training holds where required, and mark apprentice journals to support successful completions and RTO compliance.
- Mentor and support apprentices throughout their learning journey, helping them develop the skills and knowledge required for their trade.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent. Candidates currently undertaking the qualification will be considered, provided they can demonstrate progress through completed units and are committed to obtaining the full qualification within an agreed timeframe.
- Trade Qualification relevant to the role of either Automotive Electrician or Mobile Plant Mechanic or significant demonstrated industry equivalent with a relevant trade qualification
- Experience working with Apprentices and providing VET level training and assessments
- Experience within the industry of servicing or operating equipment
- Caterpillar equipment exposure and knowledge (advantageous)
