Plant Mechanic - Leading Hand

Your new role as a Leading Hand Plant Mechanic will report to the Workshop Supervisor in a permanent full-time position based in Guildford. 

The position will be working with 3 fellow Leading Hands leading a crew of 30 employees within the Powertrains Disassembly (Transmission/Final drives) department of our Component Rebuild Centre. Your role will promote and encourage high safety standards and showcase a positive can-do attitude. This individual will be assisting in training their team members and working alongside all members whilst dealing with high volume work.

Our Powertrains Disassembly Store disassembles, assesses, and reports findings and costs for components like transmissions, torque converters, differentials, and final drives.
 
Roster: 

Mon - Fri – 10.5 hrs each day (inc. of 30 minutes unpaid meal break)
(2 weeks days, 1 weeknight shift rotation)
 
What You’ll Do:
 
•     Lead and motivate a team of mechanics and apprentices. 
•     Promote and encourage high safety and quality standards.
•     Assist in training and developing team members.
•     Handle high volume work efficiently.
•     Providing support to our Tradespersons and Component Technicians through the maintenance process safely and 
      efficiently.
•     Report faults/defects and complete service reports using CAT Inspect.
•     Forklift operations. 
•     Implement product improvement plan.
 
Skills & Experience:
 
•     Australian Recognised Heavy Mobile Plant Trade Qualification preferred but not essential.
•     Caterpillar equipment experience or similar OEM machines.
•     Team leadership experience with a strong emphasis on safety
•     High attention to detail to ensure quality control aligns with dealer standards
•     Ability to multitask in a busy environment
•     Strong understanding of KPI metrics from task receipt to completion
•     Ability to coach and mentor teams
•     Experience with machine and component rebuilds is advantageous
