Reporting into the Workshop Supervisor, the Leading Hand Plant Mechanic will join our Large Engines Department on a Full Time basis at our South Guildford workshop. This role involves leading and motivating a team of up to 10 employees in the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of large engines, ensuring all work meets the highest standards. You will promote a strong safety culture, support team training, and maintain a positive, can-do attitude while working hands-on in a high-volume environment.

Department Overview: The Engines Department specialises in rebuilding and maintaining engine components, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. Our team is dedicated to high-quality service, safety, and efficient workflow.

 

Roster: 5 On, 2 Off – 2 weeks dayshift, 2 weeks nightshift – 10hrs/day

 

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and motivate a crew of up to 10 employees within the Large Engines department
• Disassemble, inspect, and assemble engine components with precision and care
• Promote and maintain high safety standards and a positive, can-do team culture
• Assist in training team members and manage high-volume workloads efficiently

 

Skills & Experience:

• Australian-recognised Trade Certificate
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong understanding of service reporting and service literature
• Team leadership experience with a strong emphasis on safety
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a busy workshop
• Familiarity with KPI metrics from task receipt to component dispatch
