Planner Scheduler Hydraulics

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Planner/Scheduler plays a critical role in supporting our Component Rebuild Centre (CRC) by effectively scheduling, coordinating, and preparing all work required for component rebuilds. You will work closely with Workshop Technicians, other CRCs, Workshop Coordinators, Stores, and external vendors to ensure every job is planned, resourced, and executed safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations.
As the central point of reference for rebuild and repair scheduling, you will ensure operational readiness, workflow coordination, resource/ asset utilisation and adherence to forecasted plans across the department. Your work directly contributes to on‑time delivery, cost recovery, resource utilisation and customer satisfaction.
Location: South Guilford
Roster: Monday–Friday, 10.5 hrs/day (incl. meal break)
What You’ll Do
- Lead by example, modelling WesTrac values and promoting a strong safety and accountability culture.
- Ensure all safety procedures, Life Saving Rules, and safe working practices are followed, including completing Safe Act Observations and reporting hazards.
- Develop accurate and detailed hydraulic component rebuild and repair plans to support efficient execution, high resource utilisation and compliance with forecasted timelines.
- Schedule Service work orders by reviewing forecasts, labour availability, planning graphs, and associated documentation.
- Assess workshop capacity and allocate machining operations, tooling, labour, and resources to ensure readiness prior to job commencement.
- Work closely with workshop leadership (supervisors and leading hands) ensure repair scopes are clearly articulated and understood.
- Monitor work in progress, updating schedules and tracking documentation to provide accurate, real‑time information.
- Liaise with Stores to ensure parts, kits, and attachments arrive in line with the required schedule.
- Manage variations, deviations, and delays, ensuring timely communication and escalation where required.
- Coordinate internal and external vendors, ensuring clarity of requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
- Maintain vendor commissioning documentation and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Support cost recovery processes by monitoring flat‑rate variances and ensuring adherence to Work Order Policy.
- Lead WIP meetings, schedule reviews, and internal/external stakeholder discussions.
- Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives, including participation in Caterpillar Production System (CPS) activities.
Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in planning / scheduling, workshop coordination, or a similar technical planning role.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical and organisational skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical information quickly.
- Proficiency with planning tools, MS Office, and systems such as DBS, WPS, Cognos, Concur, Service Advisor, and MS Project/Visio.
- Desirable: Mechanical Trade Certificate, Caterpillar product knowledge, and experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., CPS).
