Mechanical Engineer

Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will join our Engineering team on a permanent basis at our South Guildford Parts Distribution Centre. This role is responsible for developing certified, safe, and legally compliant engineering solutions that support WesTrac's customers and operations. The Mechanical Engineer will design and assess Dealer Provided Options (DPOs), machine modifications, workshop equipment, and tooling, ensuring all solutions meet relevant legislative, safety, and quality requirements. Working closely with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and Caterpillar systems, the role provides technical expertise and engineering support while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

What You'll Do:
- Deliver Engineering Solutions – Design and develop safe, compliant engineering solutions, machine modifications, and equipment that meet customer and business requirements.
- Engineering Analysis & Documentation – Prepare calculations, risk assessments, drawings, and technical documentation to support project delivery and approvals.
- provide Technical Support – Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and deliver practical engineering outcomes.
- Maintain Compliance & Quality – Ensure engineering activities meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Drive Continuous Improvement – Identify and support improvements to engineering processes and outcomes.
Skills & Experience:
- Mechanical Engineering Expertise – Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience in design, modifications, and engineering documentation.
- Design & Analysis Skills – Experience producing engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Safety & Compliance Knowledge – Understanding of Safety in Design, risk assessment, and engineering standards.
- Project & Stakeholder Management – Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively with stakeholders.
- Problem Solving & Communication – Strong analytical, communication, and technical problem-solving skills.
