The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Technical Engineering Manager and is responsible for creating certified, safe, and legally compliant solutions. This includes designing, developing, and capturing certified Dealer Provided Options for external customers.

 

Additionally, the engineer assesses existing Dealer Provided Options, conducts compliance, safety, and risk assessments, and produces quality documents and manufacturing packs. Ad-hoc engineering support is also provided to the WesTrac business, with maintenance and storage of engineering records following WesTrac quality systems.

 

Location: South Guildford, WA

Roster: Monday – Friday, 8.5 hour days

 

To be successful the following is required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with significant post-qualification experience in mining, manufacturing or a similar industry
  • Ability to identify and apply relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines pertinent to the field
  • Demonstrated compliance in Health, Safety and Environment, and Safety in Design of Mechanical Designs and modifications.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Experience in mechanical design and documentation for machine modification applying the relevant AS/ISO mechanical standards.
  • Experience in Technical review of mechanical designs and documentation to ensure they are to a professional standard, and statutory compliant.
  • Experience in resolution of mechanical related issues related to mobile equipment and machines.
  • Proficient in managing a project and deliver business focused engineering outcomes.
  • Proficient in applying mechanical engineering methods to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement and deliver commercial value to Westrac.
  • Proficient in contributing to a dynamic project-based team by demonstrating leadership in the delivery of engineering solutions.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of initiative alongside proficient analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with a commitment to follow through on necessary tasks.
  • Display exceptional communication skills, encompassing written, verbal, and interpersonal aspects.
  • Showcase advanced analytical prowess, adept problem-solving abilities, and effective negotiation skills to resolve workplace issues efficiently.
  • The ability to produce manual design calculations and produce professional engineering documentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical design for mobile equipment utilising industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Nastran
  • Current Professional Engineering (PE - Stage 1 Competency) status with Engineers Australia (EAust)

 

Desirable

  • Experience in finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Knowledge in design for fabrication and equipment manufacture.
  • Experience in mining machinery and vehicle design.
